A virtual travelling companion for the St Magnus Way pilgrimage route in Orkney, Scotland.
This feature-rich app, complete with multimedia resources for information and reflection, and offline mapping, allows pilgrims to check-in at locations along the 55 mile route, using GPS. The trail is split into six distinct sections, and app users can choose which sections they download. At the end of the trail pilgrims show the app, with their progress recorded, to receive a certificate.
Collaborating with the client’s existing web designers we integrated our own app platform with their API – which already sends data from their CMS to their website – to ensure the client only had to enter content into one CMS for both the website and iOS and Android apps.
Not only were the client and their contracted web team a pleasure to collaborate with, but we also enjoyed this project because it illustrated how flexible our app platform is by smoothly dovetailing into the clients existing set up.
AT Creative were a pleasure to work with. We had previously had a rather bruising encounter with an app developer who promised the earth and delivered a dud. We approached AT Creative seeking someone who could be clear about what was possible, deliver within the timescale and budget that we had and would be able to work with our existing website and content management system. This is what they did – communicating clearly at every stage and being realistic and thorough. I am particularly pleased with the level of integration achieved with our CMS – AT Creative worked hard behind the scenes to deliver something that is easy to use and maintain and will save us hours of time on an ongoing basis. I would definitely recommend working with them. In fact I already have!
